Phil is on Fire

Phil Gosselin is tied for the league lead in home runs. Because 2020.

Gosselin, the last guy named to the 30-man roster, smoked two homers yesterday and Didi Gregorius and JT Realmuto as the Phillies beat the Marlins 7-1. Gosselin, who grew up in West Chester, PA and is a lifelong Phillies fan, now has nine homers in his MLB career.

Gosselin hit everything thrown at him during summer camp, earning the nickname "Barrels" from his teammates. Manager Joe Girardi told reporters Gosselin made him look smart after adding him to the lineup. Zack Wheeler was fantastic in his first start for the Phils, allowing just five hits and one run in seven innings.

Now comes the hard part. The perpetually inconsistent Vince Velasquez gets the start for the Phils today as they try to win the series against the Marlins. Winning this series is important because the next four games are against the Yankees. (Photo by The Philadelphia Inquirer)
