Moore is Less

Matt Moore has been really bad in his first three starts as a Phillie–11 innings, 17 hits, a league-leading four HR allowed, and a 9.82 ERA. Opponents are hitting .354 against him with a 1.136 ERA. If you didn't know any better, you'd think he was a member of last year's flammable bullpen. He'd fit right in.

But manager Joe Girardi says Moore's spot in the rotation is safe for now. It took Vince Velasquez 63 pitches to record seven outs in relief yesterday, so he's not really an option, JoJo Romero got roughed up as well, and Spencer Howard is still getting stretched out in the minors.

Considering the Phils have given Velasquez 99 starts since 2016, you have to figure Moore is in the rotation to stay, barring injury. I hope the weather warms up so the ball starts carrying better for the Phillies offense. Because when Moore is on the mound, they're gonna need all the runs they can get. (Photo from MLB.com)
